RBG TOURS THE COUNTRY TO TAMP DOWN CONCERNS ABOUT HER HEALTH | Reproductive Rights Front And Center For Justices

HERE I AM BABY
|Richard Wolf with USA Today writes about JUSTICE RUTH BADER GINSBURG’S roadshow following her most recent cancer treatment. She has put herself on tour, traveling to give on-stage interviews and accept awards and honorary degrees. Wolf writes, “By demonstrating her vitality before adoring audiences, she hopes to tamp down concerns about her longevity…The concerns are based on the political calendar. Ginsburg must remain on the nation’s highest court at least until January 2021 to avoid giving PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP and a Republican-controlled Senate the opportunity to replace her. Such a doomsday scenario for liberals would give conservatives a 6-3 hold on the high court – solidifying their majority, perhaps for decades to come.”
NOW I'M IN THE LIMELIGHT
|The Notorious RBG is now quite literally larger than life in a new mural painted near the intersection of 15th and U streets in Northwest Washington. Teddy Amenabar with The Washington Post describes the D.C. mural in his report and says JUSTICE GINSBURG is featured wearing her judicial robes with one of her signature decorative collars.
JUST AROUND THE RIVERBEND
|Lawrence Hurley with Reuters says abortion is front and center as the new Supreme Court term approaches. “With new abortion cases on a fast track to the U.S. Supreme Court, the nine justices will get an opportunity within weeks to take up legal fights over Republican-backed laws that could lead to rulings curbing a woman’s ability to obtain the procedure.” Legal experts say it’s not a matter of if the justices will take on the controversial subject, but when. Hold onto your hats, people, because the new term starts October 7.
