JUST HOW NOTORIOUS IS RBG | The Mystery Of SCOTUS Denials | How Unions Are Readying For The Worst

YOU KNOW VERY WELL WHO YOU ARE
|Stephen Wermiel writes on SCOTUSblog that although JUSTICE RUTH BADER GINSBURG is the most “notorious” Supreme Court justice, she isn’t the first to achieve celebrity stardom from the bench. He points to JUSTICE WILLIAM O. DOUGLAS, JUSTICE HUGO BLACK and JUSTICE SANDRA DAY O’CONNOR, to name a few. But in the end, there’s only one who rises to the top. Wermiel writes, “Despite this history of growing visibility and even occasional celebrity for Supreme Court justices, there is little doubt that Ginsburg sits atop the pop chart – an opera, a movie, a fan-created website, t-shirts. No other Supreme Court justice in history has had a box-office hit to show as part of her celebrity, and it seems unlikely that movie theaters will suddenly fill with sequels telling the life stories of other justices. At the moment, and for whatever reason, there is only one Notorious RBG.”
YOU'RE STILL A MYSTERY
|Tony Mauro with The National Law Journal covers the Supreme Court’s decision Tuesday to dismiss a pending Fifth Amendment case. He notes that although the decision wasn’t much of a surprise, it remains a mystery why exactly the justices chose to pass up on the opportunity to weigh in.
HANDMAID'S TALE
|“Step by methodical step, the Trump administration is remaking government policy on reproductive health — moving to limit access to birth control and abortion and bolstering abstinence-only sex education.” That’s Ricardo Alonso-Zaldivar and David Crary with The Associated Press writing about DONALD TRUMP’S leadership on promoting “a culture of life.” Something women’s-rights activists and medical experts view as a dangerous shift for women across the country.
PREPARING FOR THE WORST
|In The Hill, Patrick Wright previews the much-anticipated SCOTUS ruling on public sector union fees and points out that unions are doing what they can to protect against a likely loss.

Will "Making A Murderer" Make Its Way To The Supreme Court?
Reason“Could the second season of the hit Netflix documentary series “Making a Murderer” feature the U.S. Supreme Court? It might, as one of the accused profiled in the series, Brendan Dassey, has filed a petition for certiorari asking the Court to clarify when a juvenile defendant’s confession should (or should not) be considered voluntary.”
