DON'T DO IT, NO DON'T DO IT
|Yesterday, the state of Hawaii filed with the Supreme Court urging justices to leave in place JUDGE DERRICK WATSON’S order that would relax restrictions on entry into the United States. The filing said that the administration’s argument in favor of a broader travel ban that excludes grandparents and grandchildren is “nonsense” as up to 24,000 refugees could be affected by the Supreme Court’s decision.
CONSTITUTIONAL KILLING
|Ohio is preparing for its first execution in more than three years, but three death row inmates just asked the justices yesterday to issue stays of execution. This follows a federal appeals panel deciding last month to allow the state to proceed with executions using a controversial sedative that’s said to carry the risk of a painful death. The petition to justices notes, “There is mounting evidence that the three-drug protocol Ohio seeks to use is unconstitutionally painful.”
