WHO'S TO BLAME FOR CLIMATE CHANGE
|SCOTUS yesterday heard arguments brought by the city of Baltimore against more than a dozen major oil and gas companies, including Shell Oil which has longstanding ties to JUSTICE AMY CONEY BARRETT’S father. Barrett did not recuse herself from the case, choosing instead to hear this significant dispute regarding the future battle against climate change. Baltimore argued the fossil fuel companies should pay for the costs of climate change because they knew their products were making the phenomenon worse. Justices must decide whether the case can move forward in state court or if such cases should be tried in federal court.
